Thatchers Treehouse started as a way to keep friends and family informed of Thatcher's open heart surgery, progress and struggles with Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect, or CHD. We are happy to report that he is doing very well and will continue to post about his medical situations when they arise. Thanks for coming to the Treehouse!

From PICU to the floor in 25.6 hours!

From the PICU to the floor in 25.6 hours! What a speed demon! We have officially set a new record in the PICU. UNBELIEVABLE! Thatcher is truly my hero. I cannot believe what he has endured in the last 48 hours. He continues to amaze me each and every hour that passes. At 8:00 am when I went back in they had taken out his catheter, and taken him off the dopamine. From there they tubed his pacers. Then at 10:00 they took out his medial steinam line. (his chest tube from the sternum) They took him off of the morphine and put him on ONLY oral Loritab. They took out his PIC line (line from his neck) took out his ART line (arterial line on his wrist) and proceeded to be amazed at his progress. They moved us to the 3rd floor at 3:30 today and took out the only line he had left (his peripheral line on his left ankle). He now only has the pacer tubes and the two chest tubes for drainage. As long as his Loritab is given 30 minutes earlier than needed, his pain is pretty bearable. His O2 sats are all good and his respiration's are very good. He is still having a hard time getting his heart rate down from 140 to the 120's and his temperature is up a little. I just cannot believe what this beautiful, strong baby has gone through. He is an example to me in so many ways. Thanks again for all of your love and support. We really do feel loved and blessed to have you all in our lives.

I can't believe such a little guy has to go through something like that and then the fact that he is recovering as well as he is! That is incredible! You are all in my prayers!
