Thatchers Treehouse started as a way to keep friends and family informed of Thatcher's open heart surgery, progress and struggles with Tetralogy of Fallot, a congenital heart defect, or CHD. We are happy to report that he is doing very well and will continue to post about his medical situations when they arise. Thanks for coming to the Treehouse!

I am so in LOVE with my son!

What a little soldier! Thatch had his sedated Echo on Friday. He did so well. After they got him to sleep about 10:00 am he was very cooperative. They did give him an IV because of his size. They gave him two doses because he fought a little. After the echo, Ryan moved him to the stretcher and they wheeled him upstairs to sleep it off. He slept really well for about 45 minutes and then another little girl came up screaming and it woke him up. He woke up happy and jovial. he was a little shaky and sleepy for most of the rest of the day. He kept down all his food all that evening. Saturday afternoon and evening he was feeling really good and got a little too crazy and wasn't able to keep everything down. All in all he did fantastic! The results are what we expected- (although I prayed it would show that the diagnosis was wrong) they are optimistic that he will not need to cut across the valve, only re sect above it and below it. The aorta is directly above the VSD which is causing some pressure problems. His sats were lower than they have ever been while she did the study, in the 80's, and after in the low 90's. The surgery is still scheduled for the 17th. The only thing that would change that is if there are too many babies with RSV and there is not a post op bed for him to go to after surgery. Or there are babies with more emergent needs than Thatch. Anyway, thanks for tuning in please feel free to e mail with any questions!! Thanks to all of you for supporting Thatcher and his heart buddies. If any of you would like to donate to our group, please go to IntermountainHealingHearts.org.
